Dad's Birthday

My Dad turned 54 this year. We had his party a little early since we would be in Disneyland on his birthday. It was nice to have all of us together-doesn't happen alot.

Not sure what Jace was doing in this one.

Domestic Diva!

So, I caught the sewing bug from my good friend and next door neighbor, Rachelle. She taught me how to make a blanket, a car seat cover, and a diaper and hard wipe case holder (for lack of a better name). I made them for a girl at Rusty's work that just had a baby this last week. It was actually so much fun! My next project is for a 5 wk old baby GIRL. Can't wait! Pictures to come!

This is the Tooth Fairy pillow that I made for Jada. She picked out the fabric and lace and requested a heart shaped pillow. It was probably the hardest of them all.

Gram

My grandma, Lola Meadows, passed away on September 11th. She was my great grandma, and my kids' GREAT-GREAT grandma! Not too many people can say they have 5 generations alive! (I still have one other great grandmother alive) She lived to be 97 yrs old. I had the sacred privilege of helping to dress her and do her hair for her viewing/funeral services. What a sweet experience that was. She was the best great grandma anyone could ask for. I'm so glad that my kids got to know her before she left us. She and Jada especially had a great bond. Jada will cherish the memories she has of helping "powder" her and sing songs & perform for her in front of the TV while she gave Jada her undivided attention! We will miss you, Gram!

Here are a few pics from the funeral.

Jada and her Aunt Mariah

Yes, that's a fishing pole. . .Gram was known for the countless fishing trips she and grandpa took the grandkids on.

Jace's Big Boy Bed

We finally broke down and put Jace in a twin bed. I was not looking forward to moving him from his crib (although he had obviously outgrown it). I thought for sure it was going to be HELL getting him to stay in bed for naps and bedtime. But, he has been surprisingly so good! We've only had to get after him a handful of times, and it has been for getting out of his bed and climbing in Jada's bed with her. He actually sleeps so much better. I think the hardest thing for me was the fact that moving him from his crib to a bed meant he wasn't a 'baby' any longer. So, he had to have a Handy Manny bed set. He saw it at the store weeks ago and hasn't let us forget. He insisted we take pictures with him on the bed.

And of course a few with him underneath the covers!

I guess it was all too much excitement for one day! My kids very rarely just fall asleep while watching tv etc.

The State Fair

We usually try to take the kids to the fair each year. This year was, by far, the best year yet. Seems they had a lot more for the kids to do (besides spend all mom and dad's money on the rides!) The kids had a great time.
